PURVENA
Purvena means "one before".
Remember
(i) In a single digit number, the purven of the
digit is zero.
(ii) In a two digit number,
the purvena of the unit's digit is the ten's
digit.
the purvena of the ten's digit is zero.
(iii) In a three digit number,
the purvena of the unit's digit is the ten's
digit.
the purvena of the ten's digit is the hundred's
digit.
the purvena of the hundred's digit is zero.
and so on.
Examples:
In 5, the purvena of 5
is 0. (since 5 can be written as 05)
In 35, the purvena of 5 is 3.
the purvena of 3 is 0. (since 35 can be written as 035)
In 173, the purvena of 3 is 7.
the purvena of 7 is 1.
the purvena of 1 is 0.(since 173 can
be written as 0173)
